Recently, the National Standardization Administration officially issued the national standards plan, and the national standard Wax for Indoor Container Candles was successfully approved for development. This standard falls under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Daily-Use Goods (TC595), with National Technical Committee for Standardization of Petroleum Products and Lubricants serving as a co-jurisdictional body. It is overseen by the China National Light Industry Council, and Jiangsu Taier Novel Material Co., Ltd. served as the drafting entity, playing an active role in the development of this national standard.

With the rapid growth of the home fragrance and container candle markets, the market for wax used in indoor container candles—as the core raw material for scented candles—continues to expand. However, the industry has long lacked unified national technical standards, resulting in a lack of consistent guidelines for raw material selection, combustion performance, safety metrics, and testing methods, which has hindered the industry’s high-quality development.
The development of this national standard, Wax for Indoor Container Candles, will fill a gap in domestic standards for this specific sector. It will establish uniform specifications for the key technical indicators, safety requirements, testing methods, and quality assessment, thereby helping to enhance the safety and stability of domestic container candle products, promoting the standardization and green transformation of the scented wax industry, and providing authoritative technical guidance to downstream candle manufacturers and brands to ensure consumer safety in home use.

As a high-tech enterprise and a “Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative” (SRI) company in the field of new wax-based materials in China, Jiangsu Taier has long been deeply involved in the formulation and revision of national and industry standards. To date, the company has led or participated in the development of 36 national and industry standards, continuously sharing its technical expertise to support the development of the industry’s infrastructure.
From specialty industrial waxes to scented wax materials for daily use, Taier is committed to driving industrial progress through technological innovation. The company integrates the technical expertise it has accumulated over many years in wax material research and development, formulation design, and testing and validation into the development of industry standards, putting into practice the principle that “first-class companies set standards” and solidifying its influence within the industry.
In the future, Taier will make every effort to advance various initiatives, including the drafting of standards, experimental validation, and discussions to refine these standards. By collaborating with all stakeholders in the industry, the company will work together to promote the sustainable development of China’s wax industry for indoor container candles toward greater safety, environmental friendliness and high quality.
